President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. told new military leaders to be watchful of threats inside the country while also strengthening its external defenses.
Marcos addressed newly promoted generals and newly commissioned junior officers during their oath-taking ceremony at Malacañang Palace on October 1.
He warned that the nation faces challenges aimed at weakening its social foundations.
“From disinformation campaigns to ideological radicalization, these domestic threats seek to sow confusion and division among us,” Marcos said.
He emphasized the military’s crucial role, telling the officers, “This is where your role… becomes indispensable—to hold the line and do it with resolve, with clarity, and loyalty to your constitutional duty.”
The president reminded them that their new rank comes with great responsibility and the trust of the Filipino people.
He urged them to “Lead with courage, not comfort,” and to base their decisions on “integrity, in discipline, and in duty.”
Marcos also congratulated the officers and thanked their families for their support and sacrifices. — iNewsPH.com
