President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlighted his administration’s zero balance billing program, which allows qualified patients to receive hospital treatment without any expenses.
In his visit to Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac, Ilocos Norte on September 28, the president obeserved the discharge of several patients who benefited from the program.
President Marcos saw two patients leave the hospital without paying anything—a 21-year-old treated for severe leptospirosis and a 74-year-old with several medical conditions.
According to hospital officials, they expect over 400 to benefit from the program on the same day.
This brings the total number of patients benefited by the program to over 61,000 across the country.
Marcos also toured the neonatal intensive care and kangaroo mother care units, emphasizing his administration’s focus on maternal and child healthcare.
To support patients and staff during the visit, Marcos distributed over 2,000 meals, while local government units provided additional food packs and rice supplies to patients and their families.
The program is part of the government’s broader universal healthcare initiative aimed at making medical treatment more accessible to Filipinos. — iNewsPH.com
